Cambridge Cottage

This project renovates a modest singe family house on a tight site in North Cambridge by adding a master suite/kitchen addition to the rear of the house and updating the existing exterior envelope. The project increases the living area of the house without overwhelming the existing small scale of the cottage. The design intent includes connecting the intimate interior to the private back yard and creating a private master suite. Views are carefully considered and composed - allowing natural light and framing the gardens while maintaining privacy from neighbors. The project also intends to improve the energy consumption of the house with sustainable design features such as increased insulation, PV and low VOC products and locally sourced products as budget allows.
