Simple Gifts

These images popped up on my social media “memories” this morning reminding me of a visit to the Shaker Village in Hancock, MA two years ago. I find beauty in the simplicity and utility of these spaces and details. Everything has a purpose, and many features are multi-purpose. Each detail feels like an homage to everyday life and rituals. They are old and traditional, yet their minimalism feels modern and fresh.

‘Tis the gift to be simple, ’tis the gift to be free
’tis the gift to come down where you ought to be
And when we find ourselves in the place just right
‘Twill be in the valley of love and delight. - Eric Copeland
